Lowell Police Search for Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police in Lowell, Massachusetts are searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that left an unidentified male pedestrian dead late Wednesday night.

About the Lowell Hit-and-Run

According to the Lowell Sun, police received multiple 911 calls reporting a pedestrian accident on Westford Street just before 11 pm Wednesday.

Witnesses claim that the unidentified man was crossing the street when he was struck by a Volkswagen hatchback, smashing the vehicles windshield. The car then sped away at a high rate of speed.

Police are now searching for a blue Volkswagen with Massachusetts license plate 537TY6, and say they have identified the vehicles owner through registration records.

Police are asking the public to report any information to the Lowell police at 978-937-3200 or via Crimestoppers at 978-459-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and an reward of $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
