Man Faces Charges After Crashing into Car, Striking Three Pedestrians

According to the Observer-Dispatch, an alleged drunk driver crashed into another car before hitting three pedestrians on the sidewalk in Buffalo, NY, earlier this month.

Details of the Pedestrian Accident

Abdikadir M. Jaffar, 31, was driving his Toyota Prius on Richmond Avenue near Bryant Street when the injury accident occurred. Jaffar crashed into another car before driving off the road and onto the sidewalk.

The Observer-Dispatch reports that three teenaged pedestrians walking along the sidewalk were hit by the car. One of the victims reportedly lost a leg in the accident, and another teen sustained a fractured pelvis in the crash.

Officials say Jaffar tried to flee the scene of the accident on foot, but a witness to the incident apprehended him until police arrived. The drunk driver told police he had been drinking at a party prior to the accident. The Observer-Dispatch reports that Jaffar faces two counts of felony vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, and other driving offenses.
