Man Killed in Crash with Drunk Driver

According to WKOW, a man is dead following a head-on collision with a drunk driver early Saturday morning in Gratiot Township, Iowa.

Driver Arrested after Hospital Discharge

John Drew Brewington, 23, was driving west on Trunk Highway 11 at approximately 2:00 a.m. local time. Brewington crossed the center line of the road and slammed into 22-year-old Cameron Paddock’s car. WKOW reports that Paddock was transported to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque and pronounced dead.

According to WKOW, police officials wanted to transport Paddock by helicopter, but the weather was too severe at the time.

Brewington is tentatively facing a charge of homicide through intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. This charge carries a potential fine of $100,000 and 25 years in prison.
