According to the San Antonio Express-News, three pedestrians, including a child and a man in a wheelchair, sustained critical injuries when they were hit by a drunk driver in San Antonio while crossing the road on Monday night.
A 49-year-old man in a wheelchair, a 30-year-old woman, and a 7-year-old boy were crossing Pleasanton Road in San Antonio at around 8:40 p.m. Police say the pedestrians were not in a designated crosswalk when Freddie Pastrano, 54, crashed into the pedestrians.
A Ford Mustang traveling in the opposite direction also struck the man in the wheelchair and the boy when they were tossed into oncoming traffic. According to the San Antonio Express-News, the three pedestrians received life-threatening injuries in the accident.
Police say all three were taken to University Hospital for treatment. The San Antonio Express-News reports that police arrested Pastrano at the scene when they discovered his intoxication.
Pastrano was found guilty of DWI in February earlier this year.
