About Medical Malpractice Lawsuits

If someone contracts a preventable infection after surgery, they are able to sue both the doctor and the hospital. This kind of infections can result from the doctor using unsanitary equipment or the room itself being unsanitary.

In order to have a case, there must be proof both of negligence and also that the infection would not have happened if not for said negligence.

Information About Medical Malpractice

Medical malpractice can include negligence before or during childbirth, misdiagnosis, surgery or anesthesia errors, or medication errors.

The British Medical Journal estimates that 210,000-400,000 deaths each year are associated with medical errors.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), medical errors cause more deaths each year than unintentional injuries, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes.
