Two people were killed in an accident involving one vehicle and a motorcycle on Sunday.
A press release from the Henry County Police Department indicated that 28-year-old Justin Peppers, of Locust Grove was heading east in a 1993 Ford Escort at around 7:50 p.m. when he somehow lost control of the vehicle at a curve on Jonesboro Road.
According to the police, the vehicle lost control and crossed the center line, hitting a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was carrying two occupants and traveling in the westbound lanes.
Both Peppers and the driver of the motorcycle, 51-year-old Jerall Townsend of Jonesboro were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The other passenger on the motorcycle, Townsend’s 11-year-old daughter was taken to the Egleston’s Children’s Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. As of Tuesday, her condition was unknown.
Captain Joey Smith of the Henry County Police Department indicated that the accident is still under investigation and said that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
