Motorcyclist Sustains Fatal Injuries after Crashing into School Bus

According to KVEW-TV, a motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a school bus on SR-224 in Richland, Washington, on Monday afternoon.

Details of the Bus-Motorcycle Crash

Douglas Walters, 59, drove his Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on SR-224 at around 4:00 p.m. when the accident occurred. The bus driver, 46-year-old James Fleming, traveled westbound on SR-224 and turned into a driveway near Van Giesen Street, failing to see Walters in the eastbound lane.

KVEW-TV reports that Walters crashed into the bus and died at the scene. Walters was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Fleming and a passenger on the bus did not suffer any injuries.

Officials say charges are pending against Fleming for failure to yield, reports KVEW-TV.

Motorcycle Crash Statistics
