Motorist Arrested in El Paso Hit-and-Run
An 57-year-old El Paso man is facing felony charges after he allegedly fled the scene of a motorcycle accident in which he was directly involved in.
Details of the Hit-and-Run
Police took Ricardo Favila into custody a few hours after a collision in 11100 block of Montwood Drive near Mermaid Drive.
It is believed that Favila and the car, which police believe was involved in the incident, were found at a home along Rudder Place. Police investigators report that Jesus Rodriguez, 25, was riding a motorcycle on the westbound lanes of Montwood Drive before he was hit by Favila’s vehicle.
According to KFOX14 News, the incident occurred when the gold 1999 Toyota Camry driven by Favila was heading eastbound on Montwood. Favila proceeded by making a northbound turn onto Mermaid, where he failed to yield the right of way to the victim, Rodriguez.
As a result of the collision, Rodriguez was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered grave injuries, police report.
About the Motorist’s Arrest
- Police at the scene of the accident stated that a helicopter had been requested to search for the suspect.
- At approximately 2p.m., Favila was found and subsequently placed under arrest.
- Favila was charged with fleeing the scene of an accident pertaining to personal injury or death and booked into the El Paso County Detention Center on a $3,000 bound.
