Multi-Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

According to the Times-Union, an 18-year-old woman was killed and three others injured in a four-car crash in Colonie, New York.

Investigation Ongoing, Determination of Charges Pending

The fatal accident occurred on New York Route 7 near Miller Road. According to police, a 41-year-old woman, Jessica A. Bellerose, struck the car of Melanie Curtis, 38, while traveling eastbound.

This initial collision caused Bellerose to lose control of her car and cross into the westbound lanes of Route 7. According to the Times Union, Bellerose slammed her car into two vehicles, one driven by Paige Ahearn, 18, and the other by 58-year-old Jeffrey Gaul.

Ahearn was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Her boyfriend, 21-year-old Damien DeMayo, sustained head and neck injuries during the crash and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Gaul suffered a wrist injury during the crash, and Bellerose is receiving treatment at Albany Medical Center, according to the Times Union.

Police believe that alcohol played a role in the fatal accident. The investigation and crash reconstruction is ongoing.
