Kingston Pharma, LLC has issued a nationwide recall for DG/Health Naturals Baby Cough Syrup + Mucus due to potential bacterial contamination.
According to CNN, the cough syrup exposes children to two forms of gastrointestinal illness with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. Bacteria was found as part of audit testing with one of 10 bottles showing low levels of Bacillus cereus.
The recalled cough syrup is sold in 2-ounce bottles which come packaged in a carton labeled DG/Health Baby Cough Syrup + Mucus. The cough syrup was sold nationwide in Dollar General retails stores.
Infants, young children, and other with weakened immune systems are at an increased risk.
Consumers who purchased the recalled cough syrup may return it for a refund.
