One Dead, 12 Injured in Head-on Crash between Car and Van

According to CBS12, one man is dead and 12 others are injured after a passenger van carrying migrant workers was hit by a car head-on in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Tuesday morning.

Details of Fatal Head-on Wreck

A man was driving east on Orange Avenue, roughly five miles west of Interstate 95, when the fatal crash occurred. The driver, for reasons currently unknown to investigators, crossed over the center dividing line and crashed into a passenger van heading westbound.

CBS12 reports that the driver of the car died from injuries at the scene. The driver of the passenger van was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The other passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. Both vehicles suffered severe damage to the front end and hood.

Officials say the crash remains under investigation, according to CBS12, but poor weather conditions at the time may have played a role.
