One Dead in Acworth Construction Accident


A worker was killed Tuesday after being involved in a construction-related accident in Acworth, New Hampshire.

Contractor Was Part of Road Work Crew

According to the Sentinel Source, the man was working for a private contractor which was completing construction work on Bascom Hill Road. Three other workers were present when the accident occurred.

First responders performed CPR on the injured worker for about an hour but were unable to revive him.

Police decline to release information relating to the man’s identity or how the accident occurred. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration have been called to investigate the incident.

Construction Accident Statistics

The following information was provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA):

  • 4,836 workers were killed on the job in 2015. This averages to more than 93 deaths a week or more than 13 deaths every day.
  • Of the 4,379 worker fatalities that occurred in private industry, 937 were associated with construction.
  • The leading causes of construction-related deaths are:
    • Falls
    • Struck by object
    • Electrocutions
    • Caught-In/Between
