One Dead, Four Injured in Head-on Car-Truck Wreck

According to WRIC, one person is dead and four others injured after a head-on crash between a car and pickup truck in Nottoway County, Virginia, on Wednesday afternoon.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The accident occurred on Route 460 Business at around 4:10 p.m. local time. Three people were traveling south in an Infiniti passenger car when it crossed over the center dividing line, crashing into a truck heading north.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Joshua D. Baughan, died at the scene of the accident. The 18-year-old was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, reports WRIC. A male passenger in the car was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and a female was taken to Farmville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to WRIC, the pickup truck driver, 52-year-old Donald K. Gilbert, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A male passenger in the pickup truck was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Farmville Hospital.

The fatal collision is under investigation, reports WRIC.
