According to CBSMiami, an 18-year-old man died after driving drunk and crashing his car into a wall with four other passengers in Miami, Florida, on Saturday morning.

Speed also Played Role in Wreck

Officials say Nedian Alvarez drove his car with four other 18-year-old passengers east on S.W. 62nd Street when the accident occurred. Alvarez, traveling at high speeds, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a wall.

Alvarez died at the scene of the accident. The four passengers all received treatment at Kendall Regional Hospital, according to CBSMiami. One of the passengers remains in critical condition, and three of the passengers are in stable condition. All five passengers required extrication from the mangled car.

One of the men in stable condition told officials that they all were drinking prior to getting into the vehicle, reports CBSMiami.

Friends told CBSMiami that Alvarez’s girlfriend was pregnant with their first child, and he planned on returning to college.
