One Dead, One Injured in High Speed, Drunk Driving Car Crash

According to The Detroit News, a female motorist died after sustaining injuries in a crash involving a drunk driver in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, on Tuesday night.

Details of the Fatal Car Crash

A 53-year-old woman was driving east on Square Lake Road at around 9:00 p.m. local time when the fatal car accident occurred. Officials say the woman was hit by a car from behind, causing her to crash off the roadway and into a fence.

The Detroit News reports that the woman was transported to the hospital but would later die from her injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also hospitalized in stable condition.

Officials believe the driver that struck the woman appeared to have been speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol. The Detroit News reports that 54 people have died in car accidents in Michigan in 2017.
