One Dead, Two Injured in Head-On Car Accident

According to WHIO, one person is dead and another injured in a crash between two vehicles in Springfield, Ohio, on Monday morning.

About the Fatal Car Accident

The car accident occurred on Ohio Highway 41 near Ohio Highway 235 at around 5 a.m. local time. A man in a Honda car attempted to pass a pickup truck while cresting a hill, entering into the opposing traffic lane and colliding head-on with an SUV.

The SUV was hit head-on by the Honda car, which officials say was speeding and passing in a non-passing zone. WHIO reports that the driver of the Honda, 18-year-old Logan Voorhees, died at the scene. Voorhees was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to WHIO, the SUV driver, 66-year-old Linda Stafford, was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital. The pickup truck driver was also hurt in the wreck and transported to a hospital.
