A Sanford man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday.
According to a report released by the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Zachary Ryan McNeil was killed in the accident that happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening on Clarence Phillips Road near the Moore County Line.
The report further indicated that McNeil was driving at a high rate of speed when he apparently lost control of his vehicle while rounding a curve, before he traveled to the side of the road and overcorrected. The vehicle then went over the center line to the left and hit a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn several times in a field.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was ejected from the vehicle. The driver’s girlfriend was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
