One Killed in Trench Collapse at Work Site

According to WUSA9, a construction worker was killed when the trench he was digging caved in, burying him seven feet below the surface in Northern Virginia on Wednesday morning.

OSHA is Investigating the Incident

Authorities say the man was digging to put in a utility line at a private property in Berryville, Virginia, when the trench collapsed.

WUSA9 reports that emergency crews from Northern Virginia responded to the scene and attempted to free the worker, but he was pronounced dead around 12:30 p.m. local time.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m., and the identity of the worker was being withheld until his family was notified, reports WUSA9. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause of the accident.
