One Person Killed in Suspected DUI Accident

WATE News is reporting that the Oak Ridge Police are currently investigating a three-vehicle accident that happened at the intersection of Oak Ridge Turnpike and Jefferson Avenue.

According to police, one of the drivers, 37-year-old Christy Duncan, died at the hospital from her injuries sustain in the accident. 61-year-old Vicky Gilmore was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and potentially vehicular homicide. She also left the scene of an accident and may further be charged with failure to maintain a lane of travel and reckless driving.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident, they had to extricate Duncan from the vehicle as well as her 4-year-old daughter. They were both taken to the hospital. Before the accident, Gilmore was said to have been driving rather erratically, even driving up onto the sidewalk at one point.
