According to WJZ, a teenager was killed and another injured after their bicycle was hit by a car outside of Baltimore, Maryland, on Friday night.

About the Deadly Bicycle Accident

Jamal Anderson, 14, and a 19-year-old woman were riding a bike on Liberty Road when the crash happened. At the intersection at Marriottsville Road, the biking duo were struck from behind by a car.

WJZ reports that Anderson was fatally injured in the crash. The 19-year-old woman sustained critical injuries and remains in stable but critical condition in the hospital. No bike lanes exist in the particular section of Liberty Road where the accident occurred, and police are unsure if the teenagers were riding their bike on the sidewalk or alongside the road.

Officials believe the driver of the car, 23-year-old Conrad Thorpe, was driving drunk at the time of the wreck. He has been charged with driving under the influence, according to WJZ.
