Pedestrian Dies after Dragged by Tractor-trailer in Los Angeles

According to KTLA, a male pedestrian was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler in Los Angeles, California, early Friday morning.

Details of the Pedestrian-Semi Crash

The accident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Merchant Street and 7th Street. The semi-truck was driving north on Merchant and turning onto 7th when the truck struck the pedestrian, causing him to be wedged between the rear tires.

According to police, the pedestrian was dragged for around 25 feet before the tractor-trailer operator pulled over. KTLA reports that the man died at the scene. According to LAist, the victim was a 30-year-old white male.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the cause of the fatal accident. LAist reports that the truck driver has not been cited or arrested and is cooperating with the police.
