Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-run Crash; Driver Faces Charges

According to WXII, a female pedestrian died after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Wednesday night.

Details of Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Katricia Smith, 43, was crossing University Parkway at around 7:00 p.m. local time when the fatal crash occurred. Smith was hit by a car traveling northbound near Northwest Boulevard.

Smith died from injuries sustained during the crash, according to WXII. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Christian Burke, fled the scene following the incident.

Burke was found by officials and arrested, reports WXII. Burke is being held on $30,000 bail at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. He has been charged with felony hit-and-run. The crash remains under investigation.
