Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Hit by Distracted Driver

According to the Salem Patch, a pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash involving a distracted driver in Salem, Massachusetts, on Tuesday.

Details of Pedestrian-Car Crash

A 46-year-old man was walking along Loring Avenue in the morning hours when the injury accident occurred. The pedestrian was struck by a car and transported via MedFlight to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Officials say the pedestrian remained responsive following the car accident, reports the Salem Patch. The man did appear to suffer from serious injuries to his legs.

The Salem Patch reports that the driver of the car was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The unidentified driver told officials that he was distracted by his passenger when he hit the pedestrian.
