Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Semi-Truck

According to Central Maine, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by an 18-wheeler while waiting for a tow truck in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, on Sunday afternoon.

Details of Pedestrian-Semi Crash

Dustin Smithurst, 27, was driving north on Interstate 95 near Pittsfield when his car skidded off the road, striking several trees. The pedestrian accident occurred when Smithurst was waiting outside his vehicle as a wrecker stopped to assist him with moving his car.

Officials say Smithurst was hit by a tractor-trailer while standing alongside the passing lane of the interstate, reports Central Maine. The man was transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital and then Easter Maine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi, 54-year-old Adrien Doyon, has not been charged. The crash report and investigation is still ongoing, reports Central Maine.
