Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Tractor-trailer in Hit-and-run

According to WKZO, a pedestrian was fatally hit by a tractor-trailer while assisting a friend with a disabled vehicle in Galesburg, Michigan, early Friday morning.

About the Fatal Pedestrian Crash

The fatal accident occurred on the side of eastbound Interstate 94 lanes near the exit to Climax. A man from Battle Creek was helping a friend whose vehicle ran out of gas at around 2:40 a.m. local time when he was hit by a semi.

WKZO reports that the man died instantly. The man’s friend and another passenger in the disabled car were hospitalized for treatment of shock following the deadly collision. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop after hitting the pedestrian.

The witnesses to the event said the truck had a dark cab and a white trailer, and it left behind a mudflap and mirror at the scene. WKZO reports that the truck grazed their van during the incident, and it may have damage to the front and side of the cab.
