Peter Pan Bus Crashes into House

According to authorities, a Peter Pan bus crashed into a house in Granby, Massachusetts early morning January 9.

Details of the Bus Crash

The Granby Police confirmed to WCVB that the Peter Pan bus was traveling from Springfield to Amherst and collided with an oil truck before hitting the house.

The crash occurred along Amherst Road on route 116. The police were called to the scene around 11:30 am.

The driver of the bus was injured and the house suffered serious damage.

The crash is under investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the following are statistics for school-transportation related crashes:

  • Since 2003, 1,222 out of 348, 253 fatal motor vehicle crashes were involved with school transport vehicles.
  • Since 2003, 1,353 people have been killed in crashed involving school transport vehicles.
    • Or around 135 fatalities a year.
  • Of the above fatalities, 8% were occupants of school transport vehicles and 21% were nonoccupants.
  • Since 2003, 119 school-aged children were killed as pedestrians in crashes involving school transport vehicles.
