According to the San Antonio Express-News, the accident occurred early Sunday morning.
A vehicle with four people stopped at a traffic light when a pickup truck came barreling through and rear-ended the stopped car, pushing it almost a quarter of the way down the road.
One member of the vehicle hit, Dillon Trevino, was killed and the other three people were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two of the four members of the pickup truck attempted to flee the scene but all four were later arrested.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
While rear-ending crashes only make up about 6 percent of fatal crashes, they are the most common form of car crashes as a whole. Some of the most common reasons for rear-end crashes are speeding, distracted driving, and following vehicles too closely.
