Pickup Truck Driver Crashes into Two Cars, Strikes and Kills Pedestrian

According to The Mercury News, a pickup truck driver crashed into two vehicles in front of San Jose City Hall before striking and killing a pedestrian on Thursday afternoon.

Details of the Fatal Pedestrian Accident

The accident occurred at the intersection of 4th Street and Santa Clara Street in front of City Hall at approximately 4:34 p.m. local time. A man in a white pickup truck driving southbound on 4th Street collided with a car and a news van parked in front of City Hall.

The Mercury News reports that it isn’t entirely clear where the pedestrian stood when struck by the pickup truck, but the investigation is ongoing. The pedestrian died at the scene of the collision. Two people inside the news van also sustained minor injuries in the wreck.

The driver of the car did not suffer injuries, reports The Mercury News. Officials say alcohol appears to have played a role in the crash. The pickup truck driver was detained following the accident.
