Pickup Truck Strikes, Kills 73-year-old Pedestrian in Crosswalk

According to the Clearwater Patch, a man in a wheelchair suffered from fatal injuries after a pickup truck runs into him at a crosswalk in Clearwater, Florida, on Thursday afternoon.

Details of Fatal Pedestrian Accident

The 73-year-old man attempted to cross Missouri Avenue in a motorized wheelchair when the accident occurred. Police say the pickup truck struck the man, identified as James F. Thompson, causing him fatal injuries.

Thompson was in a crosswalk when he received the fatal hit by the truck, but police say he crossed under a red light. The Clearwater Patch says the pickup truck driver was driving north in the middle lane and did have a green light.

The man received an airlift to Bayfront Hospital before succumbing to his injuries. No further information has been made available, according to the Clearwater Patch.
