Elevator Crushes NYC Woman to Death

A Brooklyn woman was killed last Wednesday (December 14, 2011) while stepping into an elevator in her office building. As she entered the elevator car, it suddenly moved up with its doors open, crushing her to death between the elevator floor and the shaft wall. Two other people on the elevator were treated for trauma after witnessing the incident.

Elevator Had Code Violations

According to reports, the elevators at the building had previously been cited for city building code violations. Officials are still investigating the incident, and will surely determine who is to blame for the woman’s death.
