The month of May saw many recalls of vehicles often with thousands of them having serious problems. Here are the five largest auto recalls for last month.
Ram Truck Recall
Product: Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 Trucks from 2015-2018
# Affected: 410,000 trucks
Problem: The trucks recalled had a power locking tailgate. In these vehicles, the lock on the tailgate could unlatch and open without warning. This could be dangerous for other vehicles on the road if the driver is carrying anything in the truck bed. Owners should bring in their truck to the dealership to be fixed.
Chevrolet Truck Recall
Product: Silverado 4500, 5500 and 6500 chassis cabs, 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickups, and Sierra 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickups from 2017-2019
# Affected: 324,200 trucks
Problem: All the recalled trucks have a problem with the engine blocker heat-chord failing along with related terminals failing. GM has not made any statement regarding what should be done about the problem.
Ford Fusion Recall
Product: Ford Fusions from 2013-2016
# Affected: 259,000 cars
Problem: The recalled vehicles have an issue with the shifter cable. The cable is degrading which could cause the car to move even while it is in Park mode and without ignition. Ford asks that owners use their parking brake until they find a solution to the problem.
Chrysler Pacifica Recall
Product: Chrysler Pacificas from 2017-2019
# Affected: 198,000 vans
Problem: These vans have a loose battery connection that could cause loss or stalling in power steering. Owners can bring their vans back to the dealership to get the problem fixed at no cost to them.
Honda CR-V Recall
Product: Honda CR-Vs from 2019
# Affected: 118,600 SUVs
Problem: The metal core in the steering wheels can have burrs on them and these can cause damage to the harnesses inside. This could result in the airbag being disabled or unintentionally deployed. Honda has not reached out to vehicle owners at this time.
