BMW Recalls 250,000 Vehicles For Back-Over Concerns

Jarod Cassidy2 months ago

BMW has issued a nationwide recall on several recent vehicle models due to concerns that a manufacturer defect may result an increased risk of back-over accidents.

Details of the BMW Recall

According to Consumer Reports, the recall affects many 2018-2020 BMW vehicles as well as some Rolls-Royce models and the Toyota Supra, which Toyota co-developed with BMW.

According to recall documents, the defect deals with display settings that can be changed so that the rear camera view is turned off when the car is in reverse. The system will continue to retain those settings in subsequent trips in the vehicle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the issue can result in an increased risk of back-over accidents and crashes. Further, the agency says the defective vehicles do not adhere to federal safety standards.
