Drywall Lifts Recalled Due to Injury Hazard

After two reports of lifts failing and dropping their load, 17,000 units, as well as an additional 2,700 units in Canada, of YTL International Drywall Lifts have been recalled.

Details of Lift Recall

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Drywall lifts can fail during consumers use; this can cause the load of drywall to fall onto the lift operator, posing the risk of an injury.

The current recall involved YTL drywall lifts, the metal lifts are red, with three 30 inch legs, casters at the base, horizontal bars at the top to hold the drywall, as well as a telescoping post that is able to extend vertically up to 11 feet.

Recalled lifts have a label on the vertical mast: “PERFORMANCE BUILT,” “MUD BOSS,” or “150 LB. DRYWALL PANEL HOIST.”

The lifts were sold at stores nationwide from January 2013 through January 2016, at Lowe’s, Menard’s, and Orgill Inc. stores. They were sold for about $250.
