Fiat-Chrysler has issued a recall for 270,254 Ram 1500 pickups from the 2009-2012 model-years due to potential fuel tank separation which could result in an increased risk of crash.
About the Dodge Ram Pickup Recall
According to the Detroit News, the defect mainly affects trucks in cold-weather U.S. states and Canada where salt is used to clear snow from roadways.
The company says an investigation found that a bracket in the pickups can corrode and cause the gas tanks to sag and detach. A secondary structure will stop the tanks from falling from the trucks.
Fiat Chrysler is unaware of any crashes, fires, leaks, or injuries due to the problem.
Dealers will inspect the pickups and reinforce the bracket.
States Included in the Ram Pickup Recall
The vehicles in question are limited to 20 states:
Vehicles sold in the District of Columbia are also covered by the recall.
