Heinz Recalls Bistro Au Jus Gravy due to Mislabeling, Undeclared Allergens

H.J. Heinz Co. is issuing a recall on over 5,000 pounds of bistro au jus gravy that received incorrect labeling, and as a result, did not properly declare known allergens.

About the Heinz Gravy Recall

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the recalled Heinz Homestyle Bistro Au Jus Gravy was misbranded with the label for Homestyle Pork Gravy. The labeling for the Homestyle Pork Gravy does not declare the milk and soy allergens that the Bistro Au Jus Gravy product contains.

There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the recalled products. Consumers are urged to not consume the recalled gravy and to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.

Description of the Recalled Heinz Gravy Products

The following products are included in the recall:

  • 558 cases of 12- 12 oz. jars (per case) of “Heinz Homestyle Bistro Au Jus Gravy” that is mislabeled with “Homestyle Pork Gravy” labels
    • Labels include “Best By 12/28/2017 MU6F04” on the jar cap
    • Cases include “Case Best By 12/28/17 MU6F04”

The recalled products include an establishment number of “M2041” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Distributors and retail locations nationwide are affected by the recall.
