Honda is issuing a recall on 350,083 2016 Honda Civic two- and four-door models due to an issue with the parking brake not engaging correctly.

About the 2016 Honda Civic Recall

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall on certain Honda Civic models is due to the electric parking brake not engaging if applied immediately after turning the car’s ignition off.

If the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle can roll away, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Honda will notify owners of the recalled vehicles, and dealers will be able to update the vehicle’s software. This update, at no cost to the owner, allows the parking brake to engage after the ignition is turned off. The recall begins on November 8, 2016.

Description of the recalled 2016 Honda Civic Vehicles

The recall affects 2016 Honda Civic two door and four door 1.5L turbo and 2.0L vehicles.
