Hyundai Recalls 2016 Tucson Due to Software Defect

Hyundai issued a recall on 41,000 2016 Tucson vehicles to fix a software problem that could disable the vehicle’s acceleration.

About the 2016 Hyundai Tucson Recall

According to The Car Connection, the software issue is rooted in the Tucson’s transmission control module. This component controls gear-shifting on the Tucson seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

Warm weather has been to blame for the malfunctions. Under higher temperatures and specific operating conditions, the software can malfunction and cause problems when accelerating from a stop.

Hyundai has received no reports of crashes or injuries linked to the software defect.

Description of the Recalled 2016 Hyundai Tucson

The recall affects 2016 Tucson vehicles built between May 20, 2015, and May 31, 2016 that are equipped with a seven-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission.

Hyundai is asking owners of the recalled vehicles to schedule service with their local dealer. Updates to the software will be done free of charge.
