Kids II Recalls 680,000 Oball Rattles for Choking Hazard
Kids II has issued a recall for 680,000 Oball Rattles after determining the items can pose a choking hazard to infants.
About the Oball Rattle Recall
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kids II has received 42 reports of the plastic discs containing small beads on the rattles breaking and releasing the beads. In at least two of these reports, consumers reported that the beads were found in children’s mouths and three reports mentioned gagging.
The recall affects all units sold between January 2016 and February 2017. The rattles were sold through major retailers including Target, Walgreens, Walmart, Toys-R-Us, Amazon.com, Babyhaven.com, and Diapers.com for between $5 and $7.
Consumers are urged to discontinue use of the rattles and keep them out of reach of young children.
Description of the Recalled Baby Rattles
The following information was provided by the CPSC:
- The recalled Oball Rattles were sold in pink, blue, green, and orange.
- The model number 81031 can be found printed on the inner surface of one of the plastic discs and on the packaging.
- The balls have 28 finger holes, each measuring four inches in diameter.
- The rattles will have three clear plastic discs with beads. One contains only orange beads while the other two will contain an assortment.
- Recalled rattles will have one of the following date codes:
- T0486
- T1456
- T2316
- T2856
- T3065
- Date codes can be found on a small triangle on the inner surface of the rattle.
