Volvo vehicles face recall in the United States due to software error causing potential to crash.
About Volvo’s Automated-Brake Problem
According to Car and Driver, Volvo announced a voluntary recall of 121,605 Volvo vehicles manufactured in 2019 and 2020. An error within the emergency automated-braking software can potentially lead to car crashes from delayed braking.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the Volvo braking systems face issues with properly detecting objects to avoid collisions while driving. The NHTSA has also revealed that Volvo’s IntelliSafe active-safety technology is missing crucial software coding thus fueling the dilemma.
Volvo is currently updating the software Active Safety Domain Master and will alert consumers on May 1st of the changes. Fortunately, there have been no reported accidents with the brakes as of yet.
