The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) has updated information on several existing recalls of booster and child car seats impacting thousands of products from several manufacturers.
Diono Car Seat Recall
Diono, formerly known as SUNSHINE KIDS JUVENILE, has issued a recall for 519,052 convertible and booster car seats due to an increased risk of chest injuries in the event of a collision when the seat is used with a lap belt.
The recall covers the following convertible and booster car seats:
- Radian R100
- Radian R120
- Radian RXT
All the recalled car seats were manufactured between November 25, 2013 and September 5, 2017.
Britax Car Seat Recall
Britax Child Safety, Inc. has recalled 207,037 child seats because defective chest clips may break, posing a choking hazard to the child occupant. NHTSA says affected units have a center tab on the chest clip labeled “ABS” that may break.
Among the car seats included in the Britax car seat recall are:
- B-Safe 35
- B-Safe 35 Travel Systems
- B-Safe 35 Elite
- B-Safe 35 Elite Travel Systems
- BOB B-Safe
Britax will notify owners and provide a replace clip free of charge.
Harmony Juvenile Products Car Seat Recall
Harmony Juvenile Products has issued a recall for 148,165 Big Boost Deluxe booster seats because the seat belt “may cause excessive force to be applied to the restrained child’s chest” in the event of a collision.
A remedy for the recall is still under development.
Graco Car Seat Recall
Graco is recalling certain My Ride 65 convertible child restraints because the seats may not adequately restrain the child in the event of a crash. The recall affects 25,494 seats with the following model numbers:
