Polaris Recalls 53,000 ATVs for Fire Hazard
Several all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are being recalled by Polaris Industries, Inc.
About the Polaris ATV Recall
According to the Star Tribune, 53,000 ATVs are involved in this voluntary recall, including the RZR 900 and RZR 1000 models.
The ATVs pose a possible fire hazard because of an installation error that causes the fuel tank vent line to pinch. This then could cause the tank to pressurize, expand, leak, and catch fire.
Polaris said it received two reports about small fires, but it was unclear what the cause of those fires was.
Customers are encouraged to contact their dealers and get the vehicles fixed free of charge.
Polaris Recall History
Polaris has had two other major recalls within the last year. The first of which was in January when 1,896 of its three-wheeler Slingshot vehicles because of defective steering and roll bar parts.
The other recall this year was in July when Polaris recalled the 2015 Youth RZR 170 model because of a part within the fuel pump that could catch fire.
