Polaris Recalls Ranger ROVs Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
Polaris is issuing a recall on their 2014 Ranger 900 recreational off-highway vehicle (ROV) due to a fire and burn risk for riders.
About the Polaris Ranger ROV Recall
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall is due to the heat shield falling off of the ROV.
Polaris is issuing the recall due to 36 reports of the recalled ROVs overheating and catching fire. There have been three reports of minor burns and one report of a sprained wrist. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled Ranger ROVs and contact Polaris to schedule a free repair.
Approximately 42,500 units are being recalled.
Description of the Recalled Polaris Ranger ROVs
The recall involves all model year 2014 Polaris Ranger ROVs, which includes:
- XP 900
- XP 900 EPS
- CREW 900
The ROVs come in a variety of colors and have either three or six seats, plus a rear cargo box. All 2014 Ranger 900 models and VINs are included in the recall.
Recalled Ranger ROVs were sold at Polaris dealers across the United States between April 2013 and June 2014.
