A series of vehicular fires has lead to an investigation and recall of Kia vehicles.
About the Spontaneous Kia Fires
Mark King, the owner of a Kia Sorrento, was surprised to see his car spontaneously catch on fire and nearly burn down his house last July. Two weeks after the incident, a Round Rock family says their 2011 Hyundai Sonata caught ablaze as well, and the driver barely make it out unharmed.
280 Kia Optima, Kia Sorrento, Hyundai Sonata, and Hyundai Santa Fe drivers have reported similar incidents in recent years. The recall concerns the FM 1431 in Round Rock, and in mid-January Kia and Hyundai recalled 168,000 vehicles for potential engine defects.
