Safety Tips to Prevent Injury After Inclined Sleeper Recall
Rebecca Ramsey3 months ago
So far, at least 30 infants have died after rolling over or from inclined sleeper products. To inform parents and to prevent further injuries, health experts have provided advice about product dangers.
About the Fisher Price Inclined Sleeper Recall
Fisher Price issued a recall for several of their inclined sleepers last week after reports of children rolling out of them and injuring themselves or rolling onto their stomachs and suffocating.
The recall includes the Fisher Price ultra lite day and night play yard model. Consumers are told to immediately stop using the product and return it to the store for a full refund.
How to Prevent Child Injuries on Positioner Products
Reporters at Fox17 went to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital to discover why positioner products are so dangerous.
While there, they interviewed Jennifer Hoekstra, an injury prevention specialist. According to her, tragedies involving inclined sleepers and similar products happen because parents do not understand the dangers of letting their children sleep in them.
Hoeskstra encouraged parents to read the instruction manuals before using positioner products and to never allow children to sleep in them without supervision.
The seat belts that come with these products do not prevent children from turning over or crawling out.
