ThyssenKrupp Residential Elevators Recalled

Residential Elevators by ThyssenKrupp Access Manufacturing issued a recall for about 670 LEV II®, Volant™ and Rise™ residential elevators as of September 20, 2012.  According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall release, the residential elevator doors can unlock and open at a landing where no elevator car is present.  This can expose the elevator shaft and pose a fall hazard to consumers.

Elevator Recall Information

Information below is provided by the CPSC.

  • The recall asks consumers to stop using the elevator immediately if they are to notice an “E3” or “E8” error code.
  • Even if there is no error code present, consumers are being urged to contact the manufacture for a software upgrade for the elevator.

Contact Information

  • Though ThyssenKrupp Access Manufacturing has not had any reported injuries or incidents, consumers are encouraged to contact the manufacture by phone.
More information can be found on the manufacture’s website.
