SM Fish Corp. of Far Rockaway, NY is recalling OSSIE’S brand ready-to-eat salads.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, OSSIE’S brand ready-to-eat salads because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The FDA recommends that those who have purchased any of the above listed products are urged not to consume them and promptly discard. No illnesses have been reported.
Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The infection can cause serious and even fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The salads have a UPC Code and “Best By” date labeled 8/21/16 through 10/18/16. They can be located at the bottom of the tub. The following are the names, net weight, and UPC codes of each of the recalled salads.
