Stanley Security Solutions Taiwan has recalled approximately 70,000 door latches. The locksets can fail and hinder the ability of consumers to unlock the door from the inside. This exposes them to an entrapment risk.

About the Door Locksets Recall

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) advises consumers to stop using the locksets immediately. Consumers with Stanley Commercial Hardware-branded locksets should contact Stanley Commercial Hardware. For other brands, consumers should contact Stanley Security Solutions Taiwan. Consumers can receive a free replacement lockset or, if it is already installed, schedule a free repair.

Incidents Reported and Dangers of Failing Locksets

  • The manufacturer has received four reports of the latches failing.
  • No injuries have been reported, but the CPSC warns that this defect could prevent consumers from exiting the premises in an emergency situation.
