Police in Sacramento have arrested a woman and charged her of a felony DUI after an accident in which a passenger of her car was killed.
The Sacramento Bee is reporting that Sacramento Police have arrested Antoinette Stewart on Monday on the charges of felony DUI after a two-car accident in North Sacramento in which a passenger in Stewart’s car was killed.
The coroner from Sacramento County stated that 28-year-old Tiffany Harris was killed at about 12:45 a.m. on Monday morning. Stewart and two other passengers in the car that Stewart was driving were transported to a local hospital to be treated of injuries that they sustained in the accident. The accident itself happened at about 12 a.m. at the corner of Northgate Boulevard and Tenaya Avenue in North Sacramento.
The other vehicle that was involved in the accident was a Hummer, according to Sergeant Bryce Heinlein of the Sacramento Police Department. The driver of the Hummer was neither cited nor charged. Police officers that responded to the scene of the accident said that Stewart seemed to show signs of intoxication.
When officers arrived at the scene of the accident and became aware of the extent of the injuries, they called the major collision investigative unit and other detectives to come and look at the scene themselves.
At this point, the status of the other individuals that were involved in the accident is unknown.
