School Bus Involved in Head-On Collision in Madison Co., Several Injured

Authorities in Madison County, Indiana are investigating a head-on collision involving g a school bus and a passenger vehicle that occurred Tuesday morning.

Details of the Madison County School Bus

According to reports, authorities responded to the crash near the intersection of State Road 32 and 675 West around 6:45 am. Three students were on board the bus when the crash occurred.

Witnesses of the crash reported that a Chrysler 300 crossed over the center line and hit the driver side corner of the bus. The bus driver was transported to an area hospital, and the driver of the Chrysler 300, a teenager, was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis.

Two of the students on the bus sustained minor injuries while the third was uninjured.

  • Nonoccupants, including pedestrians, bicyclists, etc., accounted for 21 percent of the fatalities.
  • Among the 106 occupants killed in school transportation vehicles between 2004 and 2013, 45 were drivers and 61 were passengers.
