Six Elementary Students Injured in School Bus Accident

Six elementary students were injured in Grand Rapids, Michigan after a school bus was struck by a passenger vehicle.

Details of the Grand Rapids School Bus Crash

According to FOX 47, the accident occurred around 8 am Tuesday when the school bus rear-ended by another vehicle while making a turn at an intersection.

55 students at the time of the crash, and six of them were transported to a nearby hospital. The injured students’ ages ranged from 6- to 11-years-old. Fortunately, none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

The bus driver, 63, and the driver of the other car, 19, were not hurt. The driver of the school bus has been cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

The accident is still under investigation.

  • Nonoccupants, including pedestrians, bicyclists, etc., accounted for 21 percent of the fatalities.
  • Among the 106 occupants killed in school transportation vehicles between 2004 and 2013, 45 were drivers and 61 were passengers.
